The Escape

She stopped suddenly, another scent reaching her. She stepped back toward Roman, needing him to hold her, to stop her. It was getting closer and it was burning her throat.

Human.

She let out a low growl, desperate to make the kill but knowing she would have a better life following their diet.

Roman smelled it as well, a hunter. He was already reaching for Mackenzie when she stepped closer and he held her tightly, restraining her. "Maybe we should kill one and bring it to her?" he suggested.

Alice stayed by Jasper's side, squeezing his hand reassuringly. "Are you okay, my love?" she asked as she caught the scent of a human - so close by. She squeezed his hand again, looking up to him.

The scent of human hit Jaspers nose, it made him his mussels tighten and he held alice's hand tight.

He heard the newborn growl he hoped that he did not have restrain her again.

Eva could tell that Mackenzie was fighting it, so she said quickly, "Calm down, Mackenzie, you can resist. Just remember that things'll be better for you if you try and stick to this diet. Now stay with Roman while I get you a deer."

She turned around in his arms and buried her head in his chest, holding her breath and willing for the lust for the humans blood to pass.

Jasper looked at the girl and the conflict that raged in mind and body, he knew it is so well.

He looked at her and murmmerd :it will be ok knowing she could hear him and sent warm waves of comfort

Roman held her tightly to him, trying to comfort her as he restrained her as well, nodding to Eva as she spoke. "Keep holding your breath. You'll be okay."

"Yeah, you will," Eva said, catching Roman's eye and giving him a small smile. He was good at this, and she could tell that Jasper was helping her too.

She was feeling very comforted and she relaxed in Roman's arms. She was sure it wasn't entirely Roman she was feeling comforted by, she had a feeling it was Jasper, she had heard that some vampires had a special gift.

Alice wrapped her arms around Jasper, knowing he was conflicted as well with the familiarity of the situation. She rubbed his back, trying to soothe and comfort him as best as she could in their situation.

He patted her back gently as he felt her relax. "There you go, that's good, just relax. Soon you'll be able to feed and you'll feel a little better," he murmured softly to avoid scaring the deer.

Jasper was comforted by alices arms wrapped around him, he pulled her close and held her tight but never taking his eyes of the newborn and calming her in what he knew was a very hard time, he hoped that the food would come soon

Eva ran off to get the food quickly, bringing down the deer within the next minute. Once it's neck had been snapped, she brought it and carried it back to the group.
"Here, feed," she said, putting the deer down in front of Mackenzie carefully and then leaping back.

She could feel Jasper calm in her arms, and she too looked to the newborn, hoping they could help her like they wanted to. She wondered if she should've helped Eva, but she couldn't bring herself to leave Jasper's side when he so obviously needed her.

Roman knelt, bringing Mackenzie down to it, before standing and stepping back as well, though staying close enough to grab her again if he needed to. He looked to Eva and smiled reassuringly.

She broke away from Roman's hold and fell to her knees at the side of the deer, with her nose pressed up against it's short fur she sniffed all along it's body, inhaling deeply as she reached it's carotid artery.

Her hands caressed the beast, almost lovingly as she sank her teeth into the animal, piercing the skin with a satisfying pop. The blood warm as she drank it in.

Eva loved Roman's smile, and she practically beamed as she returned it. Then she moved around to stand beside him.
"I think that she likes it," she whispered.

Jasper still holding tight to Alice watched as the girl sniffed and sank her teeth in draining the blood. A lethal killing machine. He pulled Alice closer.

She sat down on the forest floor, her legs coming round in front of her as she lifted the animal, pushing it to her face as she tried to suck every last drop from it, the burning in her throat having eased slightly.

She held Jasper tighter as he pulled her closer and she looked up at him, worried, touching his face lightly. "Do you need to feed, love?" she asked softly. "I can stay here and watch her if you'd like."

Roman nodded, lifting his arm around Eva, still watching Mackenzie, "Yes, I think she does," he said. "You're not hurt, are you? He was moving quite a bit in the beginning."

"No, I'm fine. I wasn't even the one holding her down really. That was all you," Eva said, smiling at him. "But are you okay?"

Jasper looked down at his beloved Alice and shook his head, " I am fine my love, I went on a hunt only this afternoon" he touched her cheek and filled with love at her concern. He leaned down and brushed his lips along hers.

She threw the animal to the ground at her feet when it failed to yield anymore for her, she stared around at the group, knowing she should apologise for her behaviour, but not quite managing to find the words, instead settling on a thanks.

"Thank you." She whispered, getting to her feet.
